In this article we will take care of a very unusual taco preparation.

Tacos - two different varieties

Before we go into these special tacos, a brief explanation: As is well known, tacos have a shell that can be filled with a wide variety of ingredients.

These casings are either

hard-shell tacos

or

soft-shell tacos

.

The former are made from corn flour, the latter from wheat flour.

The soft ones still have to be folded and rolled after they have been covered, with the hard variant this is no longer necessary or possible.

And it is precisely these firm taco shells that we button ourselves to.

Cheese tacos: preparation in the pan or on the grill plate

It is also clear, otherwise the grated cheese would drip through the grillage.

So: lay out the grated cheese in the hot pan or on the hot plancha in a circle.

And turn after 10 minutes.

Grill on the other side for another 5 minutes and the cheese is firm.

Then immediately bend it into a taco shape - it doesn't work so well when the cheese has cooled down.

And already it can be filled.

The cheese taco filling

There are many options open to you.

I opted for a previously grilled steak hip.

Chop it up and put it in the taco bowl along with the onions, lettuce and tomatoes.

A minced meat filling or grilled chicken breast are also delicious.

Of course, vegetarian variants only with vegetables are also conceivable.

Another sauce and enjoy.

Any BBQ sauce, for example, but also guacamole or tartar sauce can be used as a sauce.

Recipe for cheese tacos: this is how it works

  • Sear the steak on both sides at 300 degrees and then pull it in the indirect area to a core temperature of 55 degrees at 140 degrees.

  • While the steak is cooking in the indirect heat, place a plancha / fire plate in the direct area and heat it up.

  • When the steak has reached the desired core temperature, the steak is wrapped in butcher paper and allowed to rest a little longer.

  • Now heat the grill to 200 degrees.

  • Then the cheese comes on the plancha - if possible, lay it out in a circular shape in the desired size (with the desired diameter).

  • Grill for 10 minutes and when the cheese has taken on a reasonably firm shape, grill again on the other side for 5 minutes.

  • Remove the cheese slice from the grill, bend it in the middle to form a taco shape and cover it with the ingredients - of course, cut the meat into small pieces.
