After a discussion about the length of sports pants, US singer Pink expressed her support for the Norwegian national team of beach handball players.
"I am very proud of the Norwegian beach handball players who protest against the very sexist rules governing their› uniform ‹," wrote the 41-year-old on Twitter.
She would be happy to pay the fine that the association had imposed on the team.
"The European Handball Federation should have to pay a fine for sexism," the singer continued.
The players of the Norwegian women's team recently wore slightly longer sports shorts instead of the mandatory bikini bottoms when they played for third place in the European Championship.
According to a decision by the European Handball Federation, they have to pay a fine of 1,500 euros for "inappropriate clothing".
The world association IHF stipulates that men must wear shorts during their beach handball games that end "at least ten centimeters" above the knee.
Players, on the other hand, have to wear bikini bottoms that are tight-fitting and have a side width of “a maximum of ten centimeters”.
The change to the slightly longer pants was a "spontaneous action," reported national player Katinka Haltvik to the public broadcaster NRK.
The broadcaster had reported that the selection had already applied for not having to play in bikini bottoms before the first game.
The umbrella organization rejected that.
