2021-07-27T15:25:11.777Z

Since wearing a mask is compulsory outside on the coast from Vendée to Spain, almost all coastal departments

Wearing a mask has become compulsory again in 22 departments.

On the Côte d'Azur, the Var reintroduced the measure in 58 municipalities, from July 23 to August 2.

Sunday, the prefect of the Alpes-Maritimes decided to reinforce the wearing of the mask in a large part of the public space, with the exception of natural spaces, urban green spaces, beaches and bodies of water.

And this, until August 16.

The next day, the Pyrénées-Atlantiques followed suit, imposing the mask outside on the Basque coast at least until August 31.

The coastal towns, particularly popular with holidaymakers, are targeted: Anglet, Biarritz, Guéthary, Saint-Jean-de-Luz and Hendaye, as well as Bayonne.

In addition, in the rest of the department, wearing a mask is becoming compulsory, particularly in markets and second-hand shops, for participants in events and in queues at the entrance of establishments open to the public (cinemas, stadiums , festivals…).

The same fate in the Hérault, where the mask is in place until August 15 with the exception of six sparsely populated municipalities and beaches.

This Tuesday, the Gironde in turn took this measure in Bordeaux and in tourist areas.

According to the prefecture, the incidence rate in Gironde reached 314 positive cases per 100,000 inhabitants, against only 40 two weeks ago.

This rate is even higher in Haute-Corse (699 per 100,000 inhabitants), where the prefecture has also taken new braking measures: wearing a mask is compulsory in "dense areas", ie the busiest streets. of the main towns of the department, including Bastia.

In the east and north, the mask is also making a comeback

From now on, most of the Atlantic seaside resorts of Sables-d'Olonne (Vendée) on the Spanish border are concerned.

The prefectural authorities of Vendée, Charente-Maritime, Landes and Pyrénées-Atlantiques have in fact recently issued similar decrees, targeting areas very frequented in summer such as the islands of Ré and Oléron, Hossegor or Biarritz.

The Pyrénées-Orientales department, which is very touristy and borders Spain, was the first to reinstate the wearing of masks outdoors in mid-July, except on the beach and large natural spaces.

Wearing a mask outdoors has also been extended in the neighboring department of Aude, particularly in places of high traffic, such as the city of Carcassonne.

In the East, the mask is now compulsory in Meurthe-et-Moselle in municipalities with more than 5,000 inhabitants, as well as in Belfort.

And in the Bas-Rhin, it is imperative in places subject to a health pass.

From Calvados to Loire-Atlantique, several cities are also affected by this measure, such as Deauville, Honfleur or La Baule-Escoublac.

But also Megève (Haute-Savoie) and Toulouse (Haute-Garonne), in the center.

In Ariège, 19 municipalities including Foix are housed in the same boat.

Finally, the prefectures of the Nord and Pas-de-Calais impose the mask in the municipalities of the coast, as well as on the motorway areas, until August 2.
