Driving licenses: extension of validity until 3/2022 for covid emergency

Mims extends the validity of driving licenses in parallel with the extension of the state of emergency for Covid 19. (ANSA)


(ANSA) - ROME, JUL 27 - Mims extends the validity of the drivers together with the extension of the state of emergency for Covid 19. In addition to the extension already foreseen for the driving qualifications that expire by next July 31, a further extension is in fact foreseen : for those that expire from 31 July to 31 December 2021, the validity is set for 31 March 2022.


    The novelty is contained in a circular from the Ministry of Infrastructure and Sustainable Mobility, published on the website of the Civil Motorization. To circulate in our country, for Italian driving licenses with expiration between February 1st and May 31st 2020, the deadline is extended by 13 months from the original expiry date; from 1st June to 31st August 2020 the extension is to 1st July while for licenses expiring from 1st September 2020 to 30th June 2021 the extension is 10 months from the original expiry date. Licenses with expiration in the period January 31, 2020 - May 31, 2021 will have an extension until March 31, 2022; those from June 1st to June 30th 2021 will have an extension of 10 months while for those from July 1st to December 31st 2021 the extension is precisely until March 31st 2022.


    New deadlines also for those who must take the test to obtain the driving title: the test is completed: for applications submitted by the year 2020 by 31 December 2021; for applications submitted from 1 January 2021 to 31 December 2021, date of cessation of the state of emergency, within one year from the date of submission of the application.


    New terms also for the pink sheet: "for the purposes of calculating the two-month deadlines for requesting the carry-over of the academic exam on a new authorization to practice driving - explains the circular - the period between January 31, 2020 and December 31, 2021. Consequently, the eligible candidates, whose shortlist has an expiry date between January 31, 2020 and December 31, 2021, extended to March 31, 2022 pursuant to art. 103, paragraphs 2 and 2- sexies, of decree law no.


   18 of 2020 and subsequent amendments, starting from 1 April 2022 they have two months to request the carry-over of the thesis exam ". (HANDLE).
