The delta variant causes corona incidences to rise worldwide.
How well which vaccine protects against Delta is explained by Professor Franz-Xaver Reichl from LMU.
The summer of 2021 will also be overshadowed by the corona pandemic.
It is currently the delta variant * that is driving the number of cases up worldwide.
The R value of the highly contagious virus mutation is Professor Dr.

According to Franz-Xaver Reichl from the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich, a person infected with Delta infects five other people on average, according to the pharmacology expert.
For comparison: the R value of the wild type was still 2, while the alpha variant was 3.
The delta variant is therefore a highly infectious virus mutant.
But is it also more dangerous?

According to Reichl, the biggest problem lies in the faster spread of the delta virus.
The symptoms, on the other hand, hardly differ from those caused by an infection with the wild type: "The same organs are attacked," says Reichl.
The Covid vaccination is currently the best way to protect yourself against severe corona courses.
But does it also work if you get infected with Delta?
Corona vaccination protects almost 100 percent against Covid-related death
Virus expert Reichl emphatically affirms.
“Everyone should get vaccinated,” says the doctor, adding: “All vaccines protect very well.
And almost 100 percent before a corona-related death ”.
The risk of severe disease progression through Delta would be reduced enormously by the complete vaccination with approved vaccines, so Reichl further.

In an interview, Professor Franz-Xaver Reichl explains why only a quick vaccination of the population can stop the Delta variant.

Protection against severe delta disease courses - this is how well the approved vaccines work according to the manufacturer:
Biontech / Pfizer: 96 percent protection
Astrazeneca: 92 percent protective effect
Johnson & Johnson: 85 percent protective effect
Moderna: 80 percent protective effect
According to Reichl, however, these “excellent values” only relate to the complete vaccination.
In the case of the Biontech, Moderna and Astrazeneca preparations, this is achieved two weeks after the second immunization.
After the first vaccination, the vaccination protection is much lower and is only around 30 percent
, according to Reichl in an interview.
