The Federal Vacation Act regulates the statutory vacation entitlement of employees.
How many vacation days are you entitled to at least - and for whom exceptions apply.
Holidays are there for relaxation - and that's a good thing.
So that employees can sufficiently recover from their job, the legislature has
stipulated
a
minimum amount of paid vacation days
that all employers must adhere to.
This is regulated in the Federal Holiday Act (BUrlG).

Statutory vacation entitlement - this is how many vacation days you are entitled to
How many vacation days you are entitled to depends on the number of working days on which you are employed.
According to Section 3 BUrlG, employees are generally entitled to 24 days of vacation, based on a 6-day week.
With a
5-day week
, as is common today, employees have
20 days of vacation
.
However, higher vacation entitlements can be agreed in collective agreements and employment contracts.

Exceptions to the statutory vacation entitlement
The Federal Holiday Act applies to all workers, salaried employees, trainees and “employee-like” people.
However, exceptions have been made for certain groups of people.
For example,
young people under the age of 18
receive
more paid minimum vacation days:
Under 16 years:
30 days of vacation
Under 17 years:
27 days of vacation
Under 18 years of age:
25 days of vacation
