The organizer of a Nena concert in Wetzlar has canceled the open air beach chair planned for September. As a reason, he cited Nena's behavior at a weekend concert in Berlin. At the performance, Nena asked her fans to decide for themselves whether they want to ignore the corona-related requirements and dance in front of the stage. "I don't fucking care," was her comment on possible violations. As a result, stewards intervened several times, and the concert was finally canceled. Videos of Nena's remarks are circulating on social media.
"It was important to us, and therefore contractually agreed in advance, that the concerts may not be used as a political stage," writes the organizer of the Wetzlar concert, Dennis Bahl, in a Facebook post about the cancellation.
»Nena's attitude to the event format with the beach chairs does not match the hygiene and safety concept that was specially designed for this series in a corona-compliant manner.
As the organizer, we therefore distance ourselves from the statements and demeanor of the artist. "
The cancellation was made in agreement with the artist's agency immediately after the recent events in Berlin, said Bahl.
"It is important to us as the organizer to ensure the greatest possible degree of security at all concerts so that all guests can experience a carefree evening."
According to Bahl, the tickets could be returned to the places where they were purchased.
All other concerts would take place as planned.
