The American singer supported the players forced to pay 1,500 euros to the European Handball Federation. A sanction that she considers "very sexist".

"

The European federation should pay a fine for sexism,

" Pink was carried away on Twitter on Monday. The American singer defended the Norwegian handball team forced to pay a fine for not wearing a bikini during a match of the European handball championship.

“I am very proud of the Norwegian women's handball team for protesting against a very sexist regulation on their 'uniform',”

she explained. Before adding:

"I will be happy to pay your fine."

Each player had to pay a fine of 150 euros for wearing shorts during a meeting against the Spanish handball team.

The rules of the International Handball Federation however specify that

"the players must wear bikini bottoms (...) adjusted and notched

", of which "

the sides must be wide at most 10cm"

.

The disciplinary commission of the European Handball Federation (EHF) therefore sanctioned them last week.

If Pink offered to pay the sum, the Norwegian federation had assured AFP that it would cover the fine.

“Of course we would take a possible fine at our expense,”

its president, Kare Geir Lio, told AFP.

“We are all on the same boat,”

he concluded.

The decision had caused a real uproar.

Norwegian Culture Minister Abid Raja, in charge of sports issues, described the situation as

"completely ridiculous"

.

"Good job girls"

Pink, known for her committed positions, joined the movement to support Nordic players.

In her tweet, she congratulates them in a surge of feminine solidarity and denounces "

a very sexist regulation

".
