"In the inertia of Parliament and in the silence of the television lounges", in a few weeks already 250,000 signatures have been passed to call the referendum on the legalization of euthanasia, or half of the 500,000 required.
This was announced by the Promoting Committee of the Referendum for Legal Euthanasia, underlining how this result is due to 10,937 volunteers and almost 2000 authenticators, coming from over 2300 cities and belonging to any political group and religious faith.
The top 10 regions for signatures collected at the tables for every 10,000 inhabitants are Valle d'Aosta, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Piedmont, Umbria, Trentino Alto Adige. While Cuneo is the municipality with more than 50,000 inhabitants that has registered the most signatures in relation to the population, with 31 signatures per 1000 inhabitants, followed by Cagliari (29), Trieste (26), Treviso (25), Trento (24), Pavia (23).
