(ANSA) - NEW YORK - The most expensive french fries in the world are on sale in New York.
At the Serendipity 3 restaurant on the Upper East Side, a dish costs $ 200, an astonishing figure to the point that it has beaten the Guinness World Records.
This creme de la creme of French fries is made with 'signature' Chipperbec potatoes, considered the best in the world for frying. They are blanched in vinegar and champagne then fried twice in goose fat to be crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Final touch, they are sprinkled with edible gold flakes seasoned with salt and truffle oil. The fries are served on a crystal plate with an orchid, slices of truffle and a Mornay cheese sauce for the dip. Despite the price, there is a ten-week waiting list to enjoy the famous plate of chips.
Serendipity 3 is no stranger to records, boasting having the world's most expensive burger and sundae on the menu, for $ 295 and $ 1,000 respectively.
"Serendipity is really a happy place - said chef Joe Calderone -. People come here to celebrate and to escape the reality of life". (HANDLE).
