ROME - A pinch of Indiana Jones and Pirate of the Caribbean, lots of jungle with ferocious animals, dizzying waterfalls, a splash of mystery that could change the fate of the world and the right irony to face even the greatest dangers.

Here we are entered into the Disney world of JUNGLE CRUISE, a film directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and set during the early years of the twentieth century and which takes its name from the rides of the same name that appeared in the playgrounds since 1955, from July 28 in the hall and from the 30 in streaming on Disney +.

This is the story. Frank (Dwayne Johnson, better known as 'The Rock'), captain of a small but indomitable boat known as La Quila, agrees to accompany two English explorers, the scientist Lily Houghton (Emily Blunt) and her brother McGregor (Jack Whitehall). The couple is looking for a mythical tree that possesses extraordinary healing properties: the Tree of Life. The discovery of the shrub could change the future of medicine and save the fate of humanity. The group will have to contend not only with the dangers that the jungle hides, its real inhabitants, the wild animals, which will not miss an opportunity to attack them, but also with another rival German expedition, ruthless and without any scruple.

"We wanted with this film - says Emily Blunt in tonight's Global Conference shared with Johnson, Whitehall and Edgar Ramírez - how to revitalize the present generation and future generations. It was immensely rewarding and to do it we just had to touch a chord, that is the spirit of the films. we all grew up with, masterpieces like Indiana Jones and The African Queen ". "The script was really good and I immediately saw its great potential as an opportunity to take a ride back in time to the Disney parks that this film is inspired by. I told myself I'm going to board this adventure and develop this thing and obviously find my female co-star a bit like an Indiana Jones ", explains 'The Rock' instead. And Johnson, it must be said, had been impressed by Emily Blunt since THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA, she had immediately realized that she would be his ideal partner in a film conceived as a two-handed game. "I have always admired her as an actress, but even when I watched her on talk shows, she had an effervescent, fresh and very, very charming personality and then she was immediately chemistry between us." She then says of her character Emily Blunt: "She is an intrepid explorer who ventures into the Amazon in search of the tree of life and needs to go down the Amazon. Unfortunately she comes across the character of Frank Wolf, who does not he has a lira, but only a boat held together with adhesive tape. Hence for them the adventure of a lifetime ". Dwayne Johnson, former US wrestler of Canadian and Samoan origins who is also co-producer of the film, explains: "This film is a career opportunity for both Emily and me, which is to make a film based on an iconic Disney playground that families of many generations have appreciated all over the world ".

Are there any connections between Mary Poppins and scientist Lily Houghton? "Oh my God - says Blunt -, I don't think she is as magical. I'm tidy, but I'm not perfect like her, in short, at least in life, I'm a bit confused just like Lily". Finally, a curiosity. When Disneyland, Walt Disney's theme park, opened its doors in 1955, Jungle Cruise was one of the first Adventureland attractions to thrill crowds of visitors. Still popular, Jungle Cruise's boat adventure still operates in the original park in Anaheim, California as well as at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom in Florida and Tokyo Disneyland and Hong Kong Disneyland International Parks.
