The American rapper responded to his detractors, including singer Dua Lipa, in the video for his new track, Giving What It's Supposed To Give. Far from apologizing, he considers himself to be a new victim of "cancel culture".

"

If you haven't come today with HIV, AIDS, or whatever sexually transmitted disease that kills you in two, three weeks, turn on your phones."

DaBaby's homophobic remarks last Sunday during a concert at the Rolling Loud Festival in Miami sparked an uproar. After a half-hearted apology, the rapper finally decided to answer his critics with a new track

Giving What It's Supposed To Give.

Posted last night, the video has already been viewed over a million times.

For the artist who defines himself above all as an “

entertainer

” who “

only entertains and is paid to do so

”, this clip is the perfect answer to the controversy.

Rather than apologize, DaBaby poses as the victim of a society shocked by "

things deemed 'offensive' said during [her] performance

."

In a delirium of victimization competition, he even thinks he is a new target of the “

culture of erasure

” (“

cancel culture

”).

"

My apologies for being myself

"

In his video, he appears in a church at a funeral ceremony, dressed in white, fabricated in large gold chains around his neck. He walks towards the deceased, a black policeman, and spits on him, causing cries of indignation. The tone is set !

In this four-minute clip that he himself directed, the rapper continues provocative scenes. He stages himself in sexual relations, an illustration of very explicit lyrics, plays the detainee arrested because he is worth

"a billion dollars"

and has fun with his fictitious trial. The video concludes with these words written in rainbow letters: “

Don't fight hate with hate.

" His excuses ? They are very personal:

“My apologies for being myself the same way you want the freedom to be you

”.

DaBaby continues the provocation. His speech relayed on the web had provoked a wave of indignation. Artist Dua Lipa - who invited him to the remix of her track

Levitating

- says she is "

shocked and terrified

" by comments that stigmatize the LGBT community and people living with HIV. Making the artist apologize. In vain. The rapper has instead decided to use the controversy to promote his new title. An attitude that could cost him dearly. On Instagram, the textile giant, Boohoo Man - with whom he was to create his own collection - announced the end of their collaboration. Before clarifying:

"We support the LGBT + community and we do not tolerate any form of discrimination."
