(ANSA) - MILAN, JULY 29 - ArcelorMittal closed the first half of the year with a net profit of 6.3 billion dollars (approximately 5.3 billion euros), compared to a loss of 0.9 billion dollars in same period of 2020. This is, according to a note from the group that took over the former Ilva, "the best half-year performance since 2008". The result benefited from profits of 4 billion dollars achieved in the second half of the year, the best since 2008, with an EBITDA of 5.1 billion, up 55.8% compared to the first quarter of the year. Since last April 1st, ArcelorMittal has returned 1.6 billion dollars to its shareholders through buybacks and dividends, with total returns rising to 2.8 billion sec calculated since September 2020.
