(ANSA) - ROME, JUL 30 - The unemployment rate falls, in June, to 9.7% (-0.5 points) and returns, after five months, to below the 10% threshold. Among young people it stands at 29.4% (- 1.3 points). Istat indicates this, explaining that "the trend towards employment growth that began in February 2021 is strengthening". The growth was + 166 thousand units (+ 0.7%) compared to the previous month. In the annual comparison, the number of employees is 1.2% higher than that of June 2020 (+ 267 thousand units). Comparing the second quarter of this year with the previous one, the level of employment is higher by 1.0%, with an increase of 223 thousand units.
"Over the five months there has been an increase of over 400,000 employees", also indicates Istat. Compared to February 2020, the month prior to the start of the pandemic, the number of employees is still lower by over 470 thousand units.
