A good one and a half years ago it became known that Imelda Staunton would play Queen Elizabeth II in "The Crown", replacing Oscar winner Olivia Colman in the last two seasons.
Now fans of the hit series can get a first impression of the new actress.
Netflix published a photo on the social media accounts of "The Crown" in which the actress wears a yellow blouse with dots and a pearl necklace - serious look, her gray curls carefully coiffed.
The picture says: "A first look at our new Queen Elizabeth II, Imelda Staunton."
The 65-year-old will take on the role of Queen in what is expected to be the last two seasons of the series, which is a great success, especially in Great Britain.
In the meantime, "The Crown" inventor and screenwriter Peter Morgan had announced that the series would end after five seasons.
But then he revised his decision so that - as originally planned - there should be six.
Staunton played the Queen in the nineties and early noughties.
Jonathan Pryce, who portrayed the current Pope Francis in "The Two Popes", will be seen as Prince Philip at her side.
Staunton's best-known roles to date are the teacher Dolores Umbridge from the "Harry Potter" films and the lead role of Vera Drake in the 2004 drama of the same name. Staunton was nominated for an Oscar for the role of an inconspicuous housewife who secretly performs abortions.
