At about 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, more than
70,000 people
had joined an initiative on the change.org site in which the Government of Alberto Fernández is asked to “start a
new scheme
with the first and second doses of available vaccines from
other laboratories
for those who received
only the first dose of Sputnik V
”.
It is because of the delay in reaching the country of component 2 of the Russian formula.
Last week, Senator Julio Cobos had submitted the same request
to the Executive Branch
.
It should be noted that trials are progressing in the City and at the national level to determine if it would be safe and effective against covid-19 to combine the application of vaccines from different manufacturers.
Confirmed the first positive results of these studies may not restart immunization scheme who received the dose would require the Sputnik 1, and would
reach to apply
a second injection of one of the other vaccines
.
The promoter of the new initiative is Amalia Granja, 68, who wrote: “On April 4 I received the first dose of the Sputnik vaccine against COVID-19.
The 90-day interval for receiving the second dose has already been completed
and the Government is still not sure when the vaccination schedule will be completed ”.
This person argues that while some 2.7 million people over 60 years of age are still waiting and “faced with the need for an urgent solution”, they ask that “a
new scheme be started with the first and second doses of vaccines available from other laboratories
to who received only the first dose of Sputnik ”.
The petition on change.org.
“It is a
critical situation
where health is at stake, and practical and immediate measures must be taken.
We are close to the Delta variant and this would be fatal ”, argues who was on the way to achieving the initial goal of 75 thousand adhesions.
Many of the signatories left their comments in the change.org publication, one of them added her experience: “I sign for me with 69 years and 120 days of waiting !!!
And for
my mother-in-law with 90 years and 118 days of waiting
”.
“I received the 2nd dose 112 days after the 1st.
I sign in aid of all the people
who are still waiting for the complete vaccination ”, explained a neighbor of Avellaneda, province of Buenos Aires.
From Bahía Blanca they claimed: "
It is a right to have two doses
, the Government is in debt to six million citizens."
That figure, which actually
exceeds 6.8 million
, corresponds to the number of Argentines who received the first dose of Sputnik V and are still waiting for the second.
A
73.4% of the total
received at least one dose of the Sputnik expected to have the whole scheme.
Cobos' request
A few days ago, the former vice president and current senator of Together for Change, Julio Cobos, questioned the Government for its "lack of foresight" and also requested a new scheme with another vaccine for those who have only one dose of the Russian vaccine.
Through a communication project, Cobos asked the Executive Power for information on the
details of the contract
that the Argentine State signed with Russia.
The Mendoza leader pointed out that "all the deadlines for the efficient application of the second dose to achieve adequate immunization
have expired
, according to the information provided by the developer of the vaccine" and that "there is no certainty about the arrival of the second dose".
"Faced with the situation, it is necessary to analyze whether it is not more convenient, both from a health and economic point of view, to
start a new vaccination scheme
for those people who received the first dose of Sputnik V, with vaccines in
stock
from other laboratories "Cobos remarked.
And he added: "In particular, it should be analyzed if this is possible and, if necessary, advance this decision as soon as possible. The health of Argentines cannot depend on the will of a Russian official or bureaucrat."
