He wants to make vaccination against Covid-19 compulsory.
Frédéric Valletoux, president of the Hospital Federation of France, believes, in the Journal du dimanche, that faced with the Delta variant and the fourth wave, "we no longer have the luxury of taking half-measures" like the health pass.
He therefore calls for the introduction of compulsory vaccination for the entire population.
The one who is also mayor (Agir, center right) of Fontainebleau (Seine-et-Marne), considers that the health pass is an insufficient tool to "achieve real collective immunity".
“The question was undoubtedly taboo a few months ago because we were in this obligatory passage where conviction and pedagogy had to prevail (…) It is time to go beyond the incentive to take the last step .

Frédéric Valletoux considers that this choice would also make it possible to resolve the practical implementation of certain situations caused by the health pass, in particular the difficulty of certain controls.
According to him, this would also remove the impression of disguised vaccination obligation generated by this pass.
Macron has already opened the door
In his speech of July 12, the President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron, has already opened the door to such a solution.
“Depending on the evolution of the situation, we will undoubtedly have to ask ourselves the question of compulsory vaccination for all French people.

The head of the Hospital Federation hopes that France would launch “a global movement” with such a decision.
In Western democracies, only a few countries, like France, subject certain fringes of their population to compulsory vaccination.
This is the case in Italy for nursing staff.
The only states to make the vaccine compulsory are, for the moment, authoritarian or religious countries: Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and the Vatican.
