The Science Olympiad for Youth in Mathematics and Science for the year 2021 has reached its last stop, as 101 students from the seventh and eighth grades of basic education from different governorates compete in the final qualifiers that were launched today in the mathematics specialty at the Ebla Hotel and the Umayyad Conference Palace in Damascus.

Today's math tests took place over two hours, with the participation of 51 male and female students, and included problems and questions that measure the skills of logical analysis and mathematical thinking in order to assess the student's intellectual abilities and the extent of his study of the proposed solutions, analysis and interpretation of their logical and methodological interrelationship.

SANA accompanies the tests, as Eng. Lynn Qassem, director of the Scientific Olympiad project for adolescents in mathematics and science, pointed out that 51 male and female students took the tests in mathematics today, while 50 male and female students will apply tomorrow in sciences “physics, chemistry and biology”, indicating that the top ten students in these tests The stage will qualify for direct participation in the final qualifiers for the Syrian Scientific Olympiad for tenth grade students without passing the qualification tests.

From the Directorate of Education in Damascus, Batoul Razzouk spoke about her role in supervising Olympiad students, accompanying them to exams, giving them advice and helping them within a schedule set by the commission.

Ali Al-Riyahi, the coordinator of the Scientific Olympiad in Lattakia, indicated that the role of Olympiad students does not end with the end of the competitions, but rather is a continuous and renewed role. Students in accordance with the scientific axes announced by the Commission and work to encourage students and ask them to enjoy participating in competitions because the benefit is not only in the results they obtain, but rather a rich and integrated experience in which the student acquires scientific and social knowledge.

The students, in turn, expressed their enthusiasm for obtaining distinguished results and achieving advanced ranks that fulfill their ambitions. The student, Hanin Nizam from Tartous Governorate, indicated that the level of questions is very advanced and requires a great ability to think and analyze. She pointed out that the Olympiad competitions are a wonderful experience through which she learned a lot of knowledge and beautiful things, while she drew The student, Raneem Salama, from Homs Governorate, indicated that she loves mathematics and hopes that fields will be opened for her in order to achieve her ambition to reach higher ranks.

The student, Obeida Sheikh Amin from Aleppo Governorate, expressed his hope to become a member of the national team, and noted the training he received before the exams and the benefit he gained in these previous stages. Self-confidence and determination to achieve advanced positions in the world.

On the 17th and 24th of last June, the Department of the Syrian Scientific Olympiad in the Commission for Excellence and Creativity held the qualifying exams at the governorate level, in which 415 male and female students from different governorates participated, including 155 in science and 260 in mathematics.
