Sony and the developers of Guerilla Games are therefore planning to postpone the second part until next year, thus overturning the original schedule for the publication in the Christmas season 2021.
An official announcement is still pending, but fans shouldn't hope that the developers will back down again.

Sony had already
indicated a possible delay
in advance
when the company published an interview with PlayStation Studios boss Hermen Hulst. "We think we'll be releasing Horizon this Christmas season," said Hulst. "But that's not entirely certain yet, and we're working as hard as we can to get you confirmed as soon as possible." At the moment it is not yet clear what is behind the delay. It is reasonable to assume that the
coronavirus pandemic
led to restrictions in development that messed up the schedule. That has been the case with a lot of other studios over the past few months.
How long fans have to wait for "Horizon Forbidden West" is unclear.
Whether the game will be released at the beginning of next year or later cannot be determined at the moment.
