Last week, the pair of actors Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis were hosted on the podcast and revealed that in their home showers are really not a must every day.

The two, who are raising their two children together, 7-year-old Wyatt and 5-year-old Dimitri, said they shower the children only when "the dirt can really be seen on them."

Kunis even went so far as to say that she was probably responsible for this policy, because she too was not showered as often as a child.

The two shared that they themselves do not often shower - Kunis said that she washes only vital areas and Kutcher said that he rarely washes his whole body and even after training at the institute he usually only washes his face.

Although he noted that he makes sure to wash his crotch and armpits daily.

Nice to hear.

The commentary and stormy reactions were not long in coming, of course.

Discussing the hygiene and stinking habits of celebrities is too great a temptation to stand up to, certainly on social media.

Some of the reactions were shocking, but other respondents actually supported the glittering couple's hygienic hygiene habits.

So what do the experts say - how often should the children shower and shower?

How often should the children be showered?

Various experts find it difficult to reach unanimous agreement on the specific frequency with which it is recommended to shower children, but what they do agree with is that it really does not have to be every day. The American Association of Dermatologists, for example, has ruled that 6-11-year-olds should not shower daily and that a shower 1-2 times a week is sufficient to maintain basic hygiene. (For example, if they played with mud or something else dirty), they should be washed.

As mentioned, there is controversy on this issue among experts as well. Typical of the Israeli summer, but not only. "The recommendation is to shower the children every day," says Dr. Ackerman, "but children with a tendency to dryness and asthma of the skin should shower with lukewarm water and not with a lot of soap that aggravates the dryness. After the shower, make sure you get a moisturizer that is saturated with moisture. "

In addition, dermatologists recommend bathing children after bathing in the sea, pool or other water source.

Another recommendation, which may seem obvious but noted nonetheless - if they stink, shower them.

From adolescence, experts recommend that you start accustoming your children to showers on a daily basis.

Twice a week is that enough?

Depends on who you ask.

Smaller children (under the age of 6) need to bathe more often, due to the nature of their conduct which usually includes soiling (playing in the sand, wallowing in the mud, and more physical experience in various activities).

Whereas babies (before they start crawling on the dusty floor) have no real need to shower daily, but if they enjoy it, it is not harmful.

How long do you have to shower?

Here, too, there is no real consensus.

Daily showers help reduce unpleasant body odors, but some claim that frequent showers can damage the skin's microbiome (the beneficial bacterial composition that lives on our skin on a regular basis).

The lifestyle, the nature of your work and the climate probably also have an effect on the preferred and recommended frequency of showers.

So whether you shower every day, or prefer like Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis to shower rarely - your choice probably does not endanger your health.

But keep in mind that it can jeopardize your social relationships, especially in August.
