They confirmed 89 cases of the Delta variant in six provinces

Within the framework of a new meeting of the Federal Health Council (Cofesa), this Monday, the National Director of Epidemiology and Strategic Information, Analía Rearte, confirmed that

89 cases of the Delta variant of coronavirus

have already been detected

in the country.

Of the 89 cases detected, 40 were in the City of Buenos Aires, 22 in the Province of Buenos Aires, 19 in Córdoba, 6 in Santa Fe, 1 in Salta and 1 in Tucumán.

The National Director of Epidemiology and Strategic Information, Analía Rearte, presented the status of the Delta variant in the country and clarified that at the moment

the predominant variant in the country is Manaus.

He also highlighted that there are 70 imported Delta variant cases, 17 confirmed import-related, 2 with no known link to the import, and 19 positive and symptomatic cases related to the import but without confirmation of variant.

The Minister of Health of the Nation Carla Vizzotti clarified that

"community circulation is not the same as predominant

, but it is a concrete possibility and we must continue working hard to delay Delta's advance both when entering the country and in the jurisdictions."

Vizzotti mentioned the strategies that the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires and Córdoba are carrying out with the search for contacts to delay the possibility of continuing to broadcast the Delta variant, and the Health Ministers of those jurisdictions shared their experiences.

The health authorities also analyzed the progress of the vaccination plan against the SARS-CoV-2 virus with the objective that 60% of the population aged 50 and over have the complete scheme.

Vaccination from 12 to 17 years

Within the framework of the meeting of the Federal Health Council (COFESA) that took place this Monday virtually, ministers of Health of the country

officially launched the vaccination against COVID-19 in adolescents between 12 and 17 years of age with prioritized conditions

.

In the City of Buenos Aires it will start tomorrow.

"During the last time we have been exchanging information with the technical teams for the inclusion of prioritized adolescents and the jurisdictions already have the doses to initiate vaccination in this group," said Vizzotti.

The inclusion criteria were agreed upon in previous COFESA meetings, and had the endorsement of specialists from the Argentine Society of Pediatrics (SAP) and experts, in addition to the formal recommendation of the National Immunization Commission (CONAIN).

In this way, the defined target population is adolescents with:

• Type 1 or 2 diabetes.

• Obesity grade 2 (BMI> 35; Z score ≥ 2) and grade 3 (BMI> 40; Z score ≥ 3).

• Chronic cardiovascular disease: heart failure, coronary disease, valvular heart disease, cardiomyopathy, pulmonary hypertension.

Congenital heart disease with heart failure and / or uncorrected cyanotic.

• Severe malnutrition (Z score <-3) • Chronic kidney disease (including patients on chronic dialysis).

Nephrotic syndrome.

• Chronic respiratory disease: cystic fibrosis, interstitial lung disease, severe asthma.

Oxygen therapy requirement.

Severe airway disease.

Asthma hospitalizations.

Neuromuscular diseases with respiratory compromise.

• Liver disease: Cirrhosis.

• People living with HIV regardless of CD4 and CV.

• Patients on the waiting list for solid organ transplants and solid organ transplants.

Hematopoietic cell transplant patients.

• Oncology and oncohematology patients with recent or “active” diagnosis.

• People with active tuberculosis.

• People with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

• Down's Syndrome.

• People with autoimmune diseases and / or immunosuppressive, immunomodulatory or biological treatments.

• People with primary immunodeficiencies.

• Pregnant people between 12 and 17 years old, in any trimester of pregnancy, after an individual risk / benefit assessment.

• Adolescents who live in places of long stay.

• People from 12 to 17 years old with a valid single disability card (CUD).

• People from 12 to 17 years old with a non-contributory pension with a Mandatory Medical Certificate.
