Parents feel increasingly under pressure to have their children vaccinated so that they can go to school, says Ines Weber, board member of the Federal Parents' Council.
But politicians should not make a vaccination against the corona virus a prerequisite for participation in classroom lessons, criticized the parents' representative.
"Many parents are very skeptical of the vaccination offer - at least as long as the Standing Vaccination Commission does not make any recommendations," Weber told the editorial network Germany.
Studies on the tolerability and long-term effects of vaccinations in children and adolescents were still lacking.
The President of the German Teachers' Association, Heinz-Peter Meidinger, on the other hand, welcomed the decision of the Conference of Health Ministers on Monday to make more vaccination offers for 12 to 17-year-olds - for example in vaccination centers.
"This increases the chances of leaving schools open longer and sticking to face-to-face teaching," he told the RND.
