(ANSA) - ROME, AUGUST 03 - "In 2021, according to Upb estimates, the growth of the Italian economy could be largely higher than the forecasts of a few months ago, reaching as little as 6 percent; in the first half of next year our country could recover preCOVID-19 activity levels ". This is what is stated in the note on the August economic situation of the Parliamentary Budget Office. The recovery of the economy "has been consolidated", underlines the authority of the public accounts and "the speed and intensity of the recovery appear to be strictly correlated to the availability of vaccines".


    After reaching 6% in 2021, GDP "in 2022 the GDP would slow down to 4.2 per cent, but would continue to be pushed by the measures financed with the public budget and with the European funds of the Recovery Plan. On the basis of estimates made by the PBO, the full and effective use of NGEU resources would raise GDP by about two percentage points by next year "thus reaching 4.2%.
