(ANSA) - ROME, AUGUST 04 - FBI and Europol are also collaborating with the Italian Postal Police in the investigation of the massive hacker attack that hit the Lazio Region.
The objective of the investigators, also by cross-referencing the data provided from abroad, is to identify any similarities with other attacks made in the past with cryptolocker ransomware that took place in Italy and also abroad.
In the public prosecutor's office in Rome, two poor magistrates were involved in the investigations: those of the anti-terrorism and the specialists of the IT crimes. Investigators are analyzing the data acquired in recent days in these hours. At the moment the certainty is that the hacker attack took place by violating the account of an employee of an in-house company of the regional body and from here the hackers would have traced back to the network administrator. In recent months, a similar attack has affected the National Council of Notaries (ANSA).
