Health pass, vaccination obligation: the sling is gaining momentum among professionals

2021-08-04T18:58:38.636Z

As the Constitutional Council's decision approaches, unions and professionals are mobilizing to put pressure on the executive.

Pressure is mounting on the government.

While the Constitutional Council is due to give its opinion on Thursday on the law on the management of the health crisis, the mobilization led by several professions against the health pass and the vaccination obligation strengthens the opposition front.

The latter hope that the Sages of the rue de Montpensier will retouch certain disputed points of the law.

The opposition to the pass and to the vaccination obligation is the strongest among caregivers. In the first row, the SUD Santé unions and the CGT called on health, social and social workers to go on strike.

"We file an unlimited strike notice from August 9 and call on the CGT unions to organize and mobilize in their territories,"

said the central Montreuil in a statement, which displays its refusal of the "

health pass, ( of) the vaccination obligation and (of) salary sanctions ”.

The union is also calling for the “

lifting of patents

” governing vaccines against Covid-19. Sud-Santé also filed a national strike notice as of Wednesday.

At the local level, strike notices have also been filed in several establishments in the Alpes-Maritimes, Corsica, Franche-Comté but also in Marseille.

"We are launching an indefinite strike from tonight, and we hope to be followed by 10 to 15% of the hospital caregivers but also by other hospitals in the region"

, explains to

Figaro

the CGT secretary of the hospital center. Jura-Sud. The union official deplores that hospital management in the region

"is already putting pressure" on

their employees to be vaccinated, even before the entry into force of the obligation for carers on September 15.

"We are at the limit of legality"

, he annoys, while ensuring to be personally ready to

"Go to the end of the strike",

even if it means losing your job.

Spontaneous mobilization of restaurateurs

Caregivers are not the only ones to mobilize. One of the main firefighters' unions, the Autonomous Federation of Professional Firefighters and Specialized Administrative and Technical Staff (FA SPP-PATS), also filed Wednesday a notice of an indefinite national strike from next Monday against the vaccination obligation for this profession. "

The bill relating to the management of the health crisis, which provides for (...) the vaccination obligation for firefighters, violates the Constitution

", is indignant the organization, which says it awaits the decision of the Council constitutional before

"deciding on the follow-up"

to their movement.

The sling also extends to restaurateurs and cafetiers, who will have to impose the health pass to customers in their establishments from August 9. The opposition is organized mainly on the initiative of a collective of restaurateurs, while the representatives of the sector - the Umih and the GNI - have not launched a national call for mobilization. In Brittany, around forty establishment managers show their opposition in principle to the health pass and the risks of discrimination and daily obstacles that it represents.

"We refuse to play the role of health police and thus to control, sort and separate the users of our places

"

,

they say in a statement shared on social networks.

"I am not at all politicized or especially committed, but the health pass is a red line

, warns Caroline Vaultier, owner of the route du Lin in Commana, in Finistère.

Signatory of the bistrotiers' press release, the manager assures us that she will not have the health pass checked in her restaurant even if it comes into force.

She says she is

"fully supported"

by her customers and is delighted by the mobilization shared with her Breton colleagues which

"balances her heart"

.

The general interest also has its rights ”

“I know it is very perilous for my business, but I am ready to accept the consequences and the sanctions

.

But

s

i collectively all restaurateurs refuse to monitor the health pass, that will make the government? "

, she wants to believe. These professionals are therefore impatiently awaiting the decision of the Sages of the rue de Montpensier. It remains to be seen how their mobilization will evolve, if ever the Constitutional Council validates the controversial provisions of the text.
