“In events, we rent tables and chairs, so why not rent glasses after all?
It is a question of logic for Dominique Sacco, president of the association Echogestes based in Nancy (Meurthe-et-Moselle), whose premises are close to the concert hall l'Autre Canal.
It is also thanks to the latter that the reusable cup washing station project has just been born, offering this ephemeral service this summer to the organizers of festivals in Nancy.
“It's a problem for them to manage.
You have to wash the cups, then store them.
We have invested 15,000 euros to set up this station, ”explains Dominique Sacco.
Soon in the stadiums?
The association launched an appeal for the donation of cups, and after sorting, a stock of 30,000 glasses was built up.
“We therefore offer a glass rental and cleaning service.
After a day of festival, when they bring them back to us, we can wash 1000 an hour.
We have given an employment contract to three people because we have a desire to work through inclusion ”, continues the president of Echogestes.
After this summer experiment, the association plans to continue the initiative during the Nancy Jazz Pulsations, in the fall, or in collaboration with the AS Nancy Lorraine football club. "These reusable cups were supposed to be more ecological by taking over from the disposable, but very often they are not reused, so we have to think about the future", concludes Albin Perrot, secretary of the association.
