Instead of waiting at Ben Gurion Airport: El Al will perform a corona test on a flight to Israel
El Al and Pemi will tomorrow conduct a pilot test for Corona (PCR) for passengers on incoming flights to Israel, as an alternative to Corona tests at Ben Gurion Airport upon landing. The price is the same as in Israel (NIS 80). This is the first time in the world that passengers will be tested before landing

El Al and Femi will tomorrow (Thursday) conduct a first-of-its-kind pilot in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, to sample passengers in a PCR test for the corona virus before boarding the plane and during the flight itself. The pilot will take place on an El Al flight from New York (JFK) to Tel Aviv, which departs on Thursday at 14:00 New York time and is expected to have about 280 passengers.
This is in fact the first time in the world that passengers will be tested before they land in the destination country. El Al believes that if the pilot is successful, it will be a breakthrough in the entry of tourists to Israel in the future. The aim of the project is to restore the flight experience to be similar, if only slightly, to the one we knew before the eruption of the corona. It is important to emphasize that this test is not a substitute for a corona test that must be performed up to 72 hours before the flight.
According to the outline, the pilot will include registration and sampling of flight passengers through Femi and Xpres Check which performs the sampling at the gate, before boarding, at JFK Airport in New York or on the flight itself (for passengers who did not have time to perform sampling on the ground).
Passengers will be asked to provide their details for identification in the country, including name, passport number, address and telephone number in the country.

The results will be obtained upon landing in the country
Testing process: The
sampling will be performed using the skilled crews, the samples will be equipped with protective clothing and disposable gloves that will be replaced after testing each passenger. The samples will be taken from the pharynx and nose using two markers. The tests will be preserved in dedicated sampling test tubes containing a special solution for transmitting and maintaining viruses marked with a dedicated barcode, for each passenger after being identified by the tester. The test tubes will be transferred to a refrigerated cooler that is resistant to displacement and can withstand the flight conditions.
The results of the tests will be received after the passengers land in Israel according to the fixed standards of the Ministry of Health. The cost of the test is the same as the cost of the test at Ben Gurion Airport - NIS 80 for pre-registered. El Al will not charge an additional cost for providing the service.
Avigal Soreq, CEO of El Al: "It is clear to everyone that the virus is here to stay in one form or another and we must not stop life, we believe and act in a 'life alongside the cornea' approach.
Despite the complex situation and restrictions set yesterday, EL AL will continue to develop creative and effective solutions for its customers.
We call on decision makers to examine these moves and adopt similar solutions so that we can lead a routine alongside the virus. "
Atel Molcho, CEO of Femi:" "Femi is proud to be the first company to perform air sampling.
We are happy to be part of a national project with the aim of providing EL AL passengers with a quality health service along with a unique and new service experience. "
