(ANSA) - ROME, AUGUST 04 - The candidate for the vice president of the Alianza Ciudadanos por laLibertad (CxL) camp, Berenice Quezada, was informed that she was "inhibited" from running for this position in the elections scheduled for November 7, and was to house arrest, as notified by "judicial authorities and the Public Prosecutor" together with the police.

This was reported by the CxL quoted by the 100% Noticias portal.

"We denounce that today (August 3) at 9.30 pm BereniceQuezada, candidate for the Vice-Presidency of the Republic of Alianza Ciudadanos por la Libertad, received notification at her home from the Judicial Authority and the Public Prosecutor accompanied by the Police, who from that moment was under house arrest, without access to telephone communication, immigration restrictions and was inhibited from running for public office by popular election. She is currently in police custody, "the political party reported on her Facebook account.

"We demand freedom and respect for BereniceQuezada's human rights", asked the political organization. Prior to the arrest, a group of Sandinista fanatics had presented to the Office of the Human Rights Ombudsman to sue Quezada on charges of inciting violence, referring to some statements made during the registration of candidacies in the elections.

The Supreme Electoral Council (CSE) of Nicaragua received the binomials of five parties and coalitions on 2 August, the last day foreseen by the law for the presentation of candidacies for the presidential elections of 7 November. The first to be registered was precisely that of CxL, composed of a former guerrilla of the 'Contra' anti Sandinista and now entrepreneur, Oscar Sobalvarro, and Quezada, former Miss Nicaragua 2017.
