Carla Vizzotti announced that, after the vaccination of adolescents with risk factors, the remaining doses of Moderna against the coronavirus "surely" will be used
to complete the Sputnik V scheme, given
the delay in the arrival of batches of the second component from Russia .
The authorities began this Tuesday with the application of the Moderna vaccine to boys between 12 and 17 years old with risk factors such as oncological diseases, chronic respiratory diseases, diabetes and obesity.
It is estimated that the universe to be inoculated is 900 thousand adolescents.
As the donation made by the United States was 3.5 million doses, there would be a remainder of 1.7 million after applying the complete scheme in minors with risk factors.
According to Vizzotti's statements, the Government plans to apply this remnant to complete the Sputnik and AstraZeneca schemes.

In recent days, while waiting for the vaccine combination studies, it
was analyzed what to do with that available batch
: whether to advance in the application to adolescents without risk conditions or whether to use them to continue with adults.
Last week, the Government had assured
Clarín
that the rest of the adolescents would be vaccinated, a total population estimated at 3.8 million people throughout Argentina.
That decision was based on the fact that Moderna is
the only one authorized
so far for that age group.
Now, Vizzotti slipped the firm possibility of a change of strategy.
The explanation
"There are 900 thousand adolescents incorporated into this strategy, there are 1.8 million doses. Thus, we have 1.7 million doses that will surely be destined for the second doses of
completing the Sputnik and AstraZeneca scheme,
" said the minister on Tuesday. of Health of the Nation, in declarations to
C5N
.
He explained that, as already announced, August is the "month of the second doses."
"It is more important to
complete the scheme for a person over 50 years of age
than to start a vaccination scheme for a healthy adolescent from the point of view of risk of hospitalization and death," justified Vizzotti.
It is estimated that, in the case of Sputnik V, there are
delays of up to four months
for the application of the second component.
Carla Vizzotti will meet this Wednesday with Santiago Cafiero to define details of the combination of vaccines.
The official said that the decision will be made "tomorrow or the day after, according to the consensus of the provincial ministers and the scientific consensus."
It is that this Wednesday the preliminary results
of vaccine
interchangeability studies
carried out in five provinces would be announced.
"They are finishing analyzing the data. This first cutoff is 7 to 14 days after Sputnik's vaccination with AstraZeneca, with Sinopharm and with Moderna," said Ginés González García's successor.
And he highlighted the indications of research carried out in other parts of the planet: "In the world, AstraZeneca was exchanged with Pfizer and Moderna. As AstraZeneca has a platform similar to Sputnik,
Sputnik should work very well with Moderna
. In addition, AstraZeneca and Gamaleya also they did a study with good results. "
It is estimated that there is a delay of 4 months in the application of the second component of Sputnik.

Finally, Vizzotti mentioned the possibility that the combination of vaccines brings
better results
than two doses from the same laboratory.
"The theory is supported that the interchangeability of vaccines can be
even more immunogenic
, further stimulate the immune system to generate antibodies and defenses," said the Minister of Health.
