(ANSA) - VATICAN CITY, AUGUST 04 - Pope Francis, exactly one month after the colon surgery, returned among the faithful, in the Paul VI Hall for the general audience.
These Wednesday meetings were normally suspended in the month of July, which the Pope dedicated to his 'vacation' period at Casa Santa Marta.
This year the rest month coincided with the convalescence after the surgery on July 4th and the subsequent hospitalization at the Polyclinic Gemelli in Rome.
A little thin and his voice at times still weakened but Pope Francis appeared in good health. The warmth of the pilgrims made itself felt with a long applause on his arrival and applause during the course of the catechesis. The Pope arrived directly on the stage area of the Aula Nervi wearing the mask which he then removed for the audience. Big smiles to the agent and his thumbs-up gesture too. At the end of the audience, helped by Father Leonardo Sapienza, he wanted to go down the steps to greet the faithful present at the audience more closely. (HANDLE).
