She is said to have known about the sexual abuse of her underage son for years - and to have done nothing. The 31-year-old mother faces a long prison sentence, and at the start of the trial in Münster she denied the allegations.

The trial against another alleged key figure has begun in the abuse complex in Münster.

The 31-year-old mother of the main victim is accused of having done nothing, even though she knew that her significant other sexually abused her now eleven-year-old son.

The six-page indictment was read in camera.

The Regional Court of Münster had granted the secondary suit's motion for this step.

The defense attorneys and the public prosecutor's office also agreed to protect the victim.

Specifically, the public prosecutor's office accuses the mother of aiding and abetting through omission in nine cases.

The woman is said to have known of the serious sexual abuse of her own child by her partner Adrian V since 2018.

Occasionally, she is said to have encouraged her son to engage in sexual acts with the man.

However, it cannot be proven to her whether she had also known about the abuse of her son by other men.

At the beginning of July, Adrian V. was the main perpetrator of numerous harrowing cases of child abuse in Münster and was sentenced to 14 years' imprisonment with subsequent preventive detention.

The judgment against the 28-year-old is not yet final.

The 46-year-old mother of Adrian V is said to have been jailed for five years for aiding and abetting.

She had denied the allegations.

The now accused mother of the abused boy had a statement from her defense lawyer read out at the beginning and gave detailed information about her person, as a court spokeswoman said.

Accordingly, she comprehensively denied the allegations and did not allow any inquiries.

More than a dozen negotiations in Münster alone

At the Münster Regional Court alone, the trial of the victim's mother is the 13th trial in the abuse complex that came to light in June 2020.

Further proceedings have been or are being carried out at other regional courts throughout Germany.

This involves serious sexual violence that has been perpetrated over the years by several men against a large number of children.

There were crime scenes in Germany, in neighboring countries and in a specially prepared - now demolished - gazebo in Münster.

On the first day of the trial, a witness from the youth welfare office of the city of Münster informed the court about the consequences of the abuse on the young victim.

In addition, an audio file was introduced as evidence, on which a dialogue between the defendant and her former partner can be heard.

Nothing was known about the content.

The district court has scheduled eight further trial days until the end of September.

According to a court spokeswoman, the defendant faces a prison sentence of between two and 15 years if convicted.

The district court must also decide on subsequent preventive detention.

Main perpetrator V. is invited as a witness

On the next day of the trial on Tuesday next week, several perpetrators are to be heard as witnesses.

Among them Adrian V, the former partner of the accused who is considered to be the main perpetrator.

The IT technician can, however, refuse to give a statement.
