Inserted a live eel into the anus in an attempt to treat constipation - and almost died because he was embarrassed to tell about it
A Chinese man had to undergo emergency surgery to remove a live eel from his intestines - which he inserted there himself to treat constipation.
He suffered from abdominal pain for a whole day and refused to tell his doctors about his stupid decision that almost led to his death.

A 49-year-old man from Baiyun Province in Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong Province in southern China, was recently rushed to the hospital suffering from severe abdominal pain.
At first he refused to share with the doctors the real cause of his stomach ache, but when he realized his life was in danger - he told them in embarrassment that a 20-inch-long live eel had entered our buttocks.
Even then he used a white lie and said the eel "swam there by accident."
Only later did he reveal the real reason: he himself inserted the eel into his anus to treat the severe constipation from which he was suffering.
The unidentified man had to undergo emergency surgery to remove the live eel from its intestines.
According to The Sun, the man was suffering from constipation and his friends suggested he try the "folk remedy", although there is no scientific proof that eel can be beneficial for digestive problems.
The man bought an eel at a local market and inserted it through his anus, and it rose and reached his colon, where he made a hole in the intestinal wall and caused its contents to seep into the inside of the abdomen.
On surgery, doctors were amazed to discover an Asian swamp eel that managed to survive this bizarre adventure alive.
Luckily, the Chinese guy also survived the surgery.
His doctors told the Global Times that the man was in pain but ashamed to see a doctor, and that he was very lucky that he finally gave up and sought treatment.

The scientific website iflscience reported that in 2017 a 50-centimeter-tall Chinese eel was taken out of his gaze after his failed attempt to treat constipation.
In June 2020, a man in his 50s also heard about the ancient grandmother’s remedy and inserted an Asian marsh eel into his anus.
The eel made its way into the abdominal cavity and led to severe infection from the penetration of feces and pus into the abdominal cavity.
Unlike the last incident, this eel did not survive the journey, but the man came out of it alive.
