This affects certain batches of the product "M & M's Crispy".
As the company announced, there is a suspicion that the sugar-coated chocolate lenses could be contaminated with genetically modified material.
According to the Federal Office for Consumer Protection and Food Safety (BVL), “M & M's Crispy” packs with the best before date (BBD) 23 and 30 January are specifically affected by the recall.
These are the blue packs in the sizes 36 grams, 128 grams, 187 grams and 255 grams.

Anyone who already has the affected sweets can contact Mars consumer service with the exact product data and a photo of the packaging.
According to the company, however, products with different best-before dates are safe and therefore still suitable for consumption.

Ultimately, the recall is due to genetically modified organisms (GMOs) in an ingredient that was manufactured by a supplier.
Since in the European Union (EU) no GMOs are permitted for the unspecified ingredient, the “M & M's Crispy” in the blue packaging and in four sizes are now being recalled.
In the meantime, two Camembert varieties from Gillot SAS have to be withdrawn from the markets because harmful bacteria have been detected or at least there is a suspicion of such.
