Card Trick (TIKTOK / its_tilton)

A short guessing game managed to confuse millions of viewers with a tick - after having zero mistakes the guy manages to identify which is the last card with which the viewer remains on the board.

Ticket user @its_tilton posted a video earlier this month and asked viewers, "How predictable are you?". In the video, he shows nine cards with eight different symbols, with the word "Start" in the upper left corner.

"Let's play a little game to see how predictable you are," Tilton says in the video. He then explains that in order to play the spectators have to put their finger on the starting card and make one move - horizontally or vertically - to the next card. He states that it is forbidden to move diagonally, but turning right, left, up and down is allowed at all times. "Now move your finger from the starting point. I want you to make one move," says Tilton, "Now, wherever you are, either on the pie symbol or the house symbol, I'm going to get rid of the starting card and we can play the game.

At each stage Tilton instructs the player to make a number of moves between the cards and draws one card from the board.

Eventually Tilton will leave one card on the board - which is also the card with which you stayed at home.

crazy!

Since the video was released on July 13, it has garnered more than 16 million views, with everyone in the comments swearing that Tilton was not wrong.

"He read me like a book," one wrote and another added, "How is that even possible?".

Another wrote: "He does it in such a way that it is impossible to land on the card he pulls out."

After the success Tilton revealed how he did it, and the truth?

We were surprised we hadn’t gotten over it before.

In his tutorial video he uses white and black cards.

He notes that each move is well thought out and explains why he chose to pull out the cards he chose each time, precisely in that order.

Bottom line: At every stage Tilton knows whether you will land on a white or black card according to the number of moves he has asked you to make.

Since he knows that the following number of moves, for example, will always lead you to a black card, he can easily pull out one of the white cards.

"It's just math," he explains.

Ingenious, right?

Now go try it on your friends.
