In Berlin, investigators have arrested two brothers who are under strong suspicion of having murdered their sister together.
According to a statement from the police and the General Prosecutor's Office, the act is said to have occurred in the capital on July 13th.
On the same day, the 22 and 25-year-old men are said to have transported their sister's body in a suitcase by train to Bavaria and buried it near the 25-year-old's place of residence.
The investigators suspect the motive for the crime to be an offended feeling of honor on the part of the two men, they are talking about an "honor killing".
The woman who was killed, a divorced mother of two, did not lead her life according to the moral standards of her brothers.
The two men are reportedly in custody since Wednesday.
Helpful evaluation of video recordings
Investigators had found a woman's body on Thursday, which is alleged to be the 34-year-old victim.
An autopsy should provide more information about the identity of the dead, the cause of death and the course of events.
The public prosecutor's office and the Berlin State Criminal Police Office worked together with the police in Bavaria on the investigation.
Initially, the sister of the two now accused was missing.
On the basis of some evidence, the suspicion of murder against the two brothers was confirmed, whereupon the Berlin public prosecutor issued the arrest warrant against them.
Apart from witness statements, the investigators evaluated, among other things, recordings from surveillance cameras of a Berlin long-distance train station and radio cells.
Both the victim and the suspect have Afghan citizenship and have been living in Germany for several years.
