Argentina became the eighth country on Friday to exceed five million cases of coronavirus.
This was reported by the Ministry of Health of the Nation, after reporting 13,549 new infections in the last 24 hours.
In addition, the health portfolio reported another 190 deaths, which already reach 107,213 fatalities since the beginning of the pandemic.
With a total of 5,002,951 positives to date, Argentina is the
second most infected country in Latin America
, surpassed only by Brazil, with 20 million.
And in the world it is only below Turkey (5.8 million cases), United Kingdom (6 million), France (6.2), Russia (6.4), India (31.8), and the United States. States (36.3).
Argentina already counts more than 107 thousand deaths and five million infections.

Meanwhile, the Government announced a plan of
"sustained and progressive openings"
to
gradually
recover activities "in a responsible and careful manner."
In a 12-minute recorded message, President Alberto Fernández anticipated that -as of tomorrow- there will be a "gradual expansion of the number of people who can meet" and also an advance in school attendance, facing the expiration this midnight of the DNU currently in force.

Then, without giving dates, he said that the next step, when the situation allows it, will be the return of the public with progressive capacity to massive events, sports and outdoor concerts, and pointed out that at that stage there may be group trips of older people that they have the complete vaccination schedule.
Another of the measures ordered by the Government is the expansion of the quota to enter the country from abroad.
In this way, it will pass 1,700 people per day through "safe corridors, articulating with the provinces" and with the control that the mandatory isolation is made effective.
At a press conference at the Casa Rosada, the Chief of Staff, Santiago Cafiero pointed out that the income will continue to be "staggered" and it will continue to "evaluate how it works in this way."
"We will continue working as before, with the tests prior to taking the plane and upon arrival and the isolations," said the Chief of Staff, who recalled that for positive cases "genomic studies" are then carried out to "detect variants ".

During his battery of announcements, the President also assured that
seven million second doses will be applied during August
to complete the inoculation schedules. "In addition, we will continue to apply the first doses to adolescents between 12 and 17 years old who have been prioritized." he added.
Fernández stated that the goal for this month "is to increase the percentage of second doses, prioritizing people over 50 years of age, especially those who have had more time since the first dose."
Likewise, he anticipated that this month "millions of vaccines will once again arrive in the country" and recalled that "the combination that will facilitate progress in the second doses is also beginning."
"We are entering a new stage; there is less and less lacking. We are going to live the life we want responsibly again," said the president.
The national government promised to apply seven million second doses during August.

Meanwhile, a shipment of 200,000 doses of the Convidecia vaccine, developed by the Chinese laboratory Cansino Biologics INC., Arrived this morning at the Ezeiza airport, on a flight of the Qatar Airways airline, within the framework of the Strategic Vaccination Plan of the National government against the coronavirus.
