Covid-19 in France: 60 new deaths in the last 24 hours, 1,458 patients in critical care

While several regions in the south of France face an epidemic resurgence, 60 new deaths linked to Covid-19 are to be deplored e


The increase in patients in intensive care and in hospital due to Covid-19 continues this Friday.

The latest figures communicated show an increase in patients treated in hospital: 8,368

Covid patients are hospitalized this Friday evening, against 8,210 the day before and 7,409 last week.

In the past 24 hours, 862 new Covid patients have been treated in French hospitals and 60 people have died there.

The number of daily deaths on the rise

This Friday evening, 1,458 patients are suffering from a severe form of the disease which requires management in critical care services.

This is 38 more “Covid beds” in intensive care compared to the day before, and

359 more than a week ago.

The number of daily deaths is now up sharply, by 45% over one week.

The country has recorded 48 daily deaths on average over the past seven days.

A level which remains however well below the previous peaks (300 or even 400).

36 919 028 French people fully vaccinated

In terms of contamination, 25,077 new positive cases were identified in 24 hours, versus 24,309 last Friday.

The sliding average is 22,201 cases per day, almost stable for 6 days.

On the vaccination side, 44,413,560 people have received at least one injection (i.e. 65.9% of the total population) since the start of the campaign and 36,919,028 people now have a complete vaccination schedule (i.e. 54.6% of the population total).
