Desert Winery is one of the most interesting works in the local wine industry of the last decade. The winery, located in Arad, relies on grapes that all come from vineyards in Mitzpe Ramon. The location - in extreme desert dry conditions on the one hand on unique soil, combined with the high altitude, which causes dramatic temperature differences day and night, make the wines of the desert clearly non-standard.
The winemaking concept there over the years has included minimal intervention in the good that nature gives. This means that there were pleasant red fruits, light and charming, and very interesting whites, with a minerality that is almost unlike anything.
For all Avi Efrati's wine reviews
on Walla!'S delicious Instagram page! Food on
the 2020 vintage of Desert, reviewed on this list, included 40,000 bottles. 90% of them are sold in the country. 20% of the wines are sold in restaurants, hotels and shops, but the vast majority of the produce - about 70% - is marketed to private customers for direct sale from the winery's website. And in deliveries (free with the purchase of starting from six bottles).
Wines in the 2020 vintage continue the familiar line of desert: relatively light reds, full of pleasant fruit, not too concentrated, that can be easily sipped even in mid-summer;
And very good whites, mineral, balanced, very culinary and multi-character.
These are not cheap wines but also not very expensive and in terms of value for money they are definitely worth it.
The desert wines can be purchased directly through the winery website.

Cabernet provides a well-built body. The boat brings the deep elements of fruit and seasoning. Together, a wine is created that combines old and new world expressions. He is arguably the least “cute” and more serious of the reds in the current tasting; Even the more extroverted. However, if you thought of typical extrovert reds, this is not the genre. The dimension of refinement and restraint stops the wine a moment before it becomes extravagant. A beauty of wine for steaks, which despite the certain extroversion, will in no way take over the meal.
