"King Khufu's First Ship", an Egyptian vessel some 4,600 years old considered "the largest and oldest wooden artifact", was moved in 48 hours from an installation bearing his name near the pyramids of Giza. to the "Great Egyptian Museum" nearing completion in the same archaeological area on the western outskirts of Cairo. This was announced by a text also published on Facebook by the Egyptian Ministry of Antiquities. The transfer was necessary because, as the note explains, the museum that protected the boat, 42 meters long and discovered in 1954 at the southern corner of the Great Pyramid, was not equipped with the most modern technologies to properly preserve it. Moving without disassembling the delicate ship weighing 20 tons was "one of the most important, demanding and rare archeology and engineering projects "never completed, said the Chief Superintendent of the Gem set-up, Major General Atef Motfah. The vehicle, scenically lit with the stylization of a luminous Egyptian ship and pyramidal decorations, was piloted by remote and imported for the occasion "from abroad" to save the ship "any vibration", also thanks to the use of "special foams" and continuous monitoring of temperature and humidity percentages.it was remotely piloted and imported for the occasion "from abroad" to save the ship "any vibration", also thanks to the use of "special foams" and continuous monitoring of temperature and humidity percentages.it was remotely piloted and imported for the occasion "from abroad" to save the ship "any vibration", also thanks to the use of "special foams" and continuous monitoring of temperature and humidity percentages.
