Northern California is burning and the flames, fueled by wind and high temperatures, are ravaging the region of the mythical Gold Rush, the gold rush in the Sierra Nevada mountains, with the iconic town of Greenville largely reduced to ash.
The gigantic fires of the Dixie Fire have been wreaking havoc for three weeks now, giving life to what is now called the largest fire in Californian history.
Hundreds of buildings and homes destroyed and thousands of people affected by mass evacuation orders. The flames, contained only 35-40%, also went as far as the gates of the state capital, Sacramento.
