(ANSA) - PESARO, 07 AUG - A classically elegant production, but with references to current events in the finale, a super complete edition with 20 minutes of dancing and a final song.

It is Moise et Pharaon, in the staging by Pier LuigiPizzi (direction, costume sets), which will open the 42nd Rossini OperaFestival in premiere on 9 August at the Vitrifrigo Arena in Pesaro.

This is the French version (1827), on a libretto by Luigi Balochi and Étienne de Jouy, of Moses in Egypt, a Neapolitan masterpiece of biblical subjects from 1818-1819, translated but also expanded to 4 acts and reworked to adapt the work to the taste and French customs. . A title closely linked, in its various versions, to the history of the festival, with a first staging of Mosè in 1983, by Pizzi himself, and two subsequent interventions by Graham Vick, the recently deceased British director to whom Rof 2021 is dedicated: Moise nel1997 and Mosè in 2011. Giacomo Sagripanti directs the Rai National Symphony Orchestra with a decisive attitude, with the Corodel Teatro Ventidio Basso.

Pizzi, with the collaboration of Massimo Gasparon in the lights and choreography of Gheorghe Iancu, creates a show that plays little on the movement of choristers and appearances, neatly arranged on the sides of the scene, and a lot on colors (blue, purple, purple for the Egyptians, white and neutral colors for the Jews) and on special effects for the scenes of the burning bush, darkness and, of course, the passage of the Red Sea, solved by projections. The cast includes RobertoTagliavini (Moise), Erwin Schrott (Pharaon), Andrew Owens, Eleonora Buratto, Vasilisa Berzhanskaya, Alexey Tatarintsev, Matteo Roma, Monica Bacelli and Nicolò Donini of a high level.

The first will be broadcast live on Rai RadioTre. Reruns on 12, 16 and 19 August. (HANDLE).
