Crispy and spicy, there is nothing about the addictive taste and texture of puff pastry cheese sticks.

This is one of the simplest and easiest recipes to prepare, they always steal the show, they have something nostalgic and comforting in them and you can easily harness the kids to help you with the preparation.



If that still hasn't convinced you to run and make them, then just know that you can bake the cheese sticks in advance, freeze in a flat pan and then put from the freezer straight into the oven - perfect when you want to make a quick dinner or serve to guests who have jumped by surprise.

Ingredients

    • 1 packet of puff pastry thawed in the refrigerator

    • 200 g finely grated cheddar

    • 100 g finely grated parmesan

    • 1 beaten egg

    • Matzaatar or pizza seasoning

Preparation

How do you make puff pastry cheese sticks?

  • 1 Preheat oven to 180 degrees.

  • 2 Mix the two types of cheese in a bowl.

  • 3 Slice the dough on a surface, divide it into two equal parts and roll each part slightly.

  • 4 Brush one of the sheets of dough with beaten egg, sprinkle about 3/4 of the amount of cheese and the hyssop or other spice you like and place the other sheet of dough on top.

  • 5 Roll the two sheets together to press them tightly together.

    Brush again with beaten egg and sprinkle with the rest of the cheese and seasoning.

  • 6 Using a pizza cutter or a sharp knife, cut thin strips across the dough 3 cm wide. Carefully wrap each strip into a screw shape and place on a baking paper-lined pan.

  • 7 Bake for about 25-30 minutes until golden.
