When we think of "safari", we probably come up with two images: the charming zoo in Ramat Gan or fascinating jeep tours in Tanzania, Kenya and others.

But what do you know about "Winter Safari"?

Yes, yes, a winter safari, in the Arctic Circle, is a completely different world and of course, no less amazing.

When Lapland, the enchanting region of northern Scandinavia, becomes white under the cover of snow, this is the moment to join a guide and an organized trip and get to know all the attractions that make up the winter safari, ones you will not find anywhere else.

Even when you land in the Finnish city of Rovaniemi, the capital of Lapland Province, you can not miss the fact that everything is different. The coniferous forests, the snow and of course, the cold that requires full thermal clothing in the winter months (including shoes, socks, gloves and even a special overall).

To "warm up", I mean, you should start your visit to Rovaniemi with a tour of the Arctic Museum, where you can learn about both the unique environment of Lapland and the people who began to settle the place many years ago.

From Rovaniemi you can head towards the border between Finland and Sweden, where you will find an unusual cruise, in "ice-breaking" ships that have been converted to suit enthusiastic visitors, who receive special protective suits and can test themselves against the icy water. Adjacent to the cruise is the Snow Palace, which is rebuilt every year and changes its shape and style, so it too is worth a stop.

In the Koruama Nature Reserve there are frozen waterfalls, where the water just stops reigning in the winter months, in what looks like a spectacular cinematic effect.

From there, the next stop is the village of Santa Claus, a particularly fun tourist trap, where you can learn all about the man growing up in the old red suit, buy souvenirs, enjoy sessions and even send Santa a letter and of course - meet him.

In addition to Santa Claus, you should take advantage of the trip to Lapland to get to know its typical animals, such as reindeer, Santa's best friends.

Like him, you can ride a sledge that the moose lead and from there test your skills in angling in a frozen lake, meet the beautiful Husky dogs and visit the Ranua Zoo.

Towards the end, and after you may have managed to catch the famous Northern Lights one night as well, try your luck at "Ice Karting" (like the familiar version, just ... on the ice. Good luck!) And don't give up on a full adrenaline experience - riding through the woods And the frozen rivers on snowmobiles.

Lapland always offers an interesting and unique experience, certainly in the cold months, when the winter safari makes the whole place enchanting.
