Not sure what to do with all the cucumbers in the garden?
Then try this braised cucumber recipe!
Summertime is cucumber time.
Surely some will now ask: "Yes, but you can buy cucumbers in the supermarket all year round?" That's true, but ask the gardener about these things in winter.
It's clear what I'm getting at, isn't it?
It's about the cucumbers that grow in the garden
- and once they're ready for harvest, they are usually available in huge quantities.
In addition to using it for salads * or preserving it for the winter, there is a very tasty dish:
braised cucumbers with minced meat
.
Process cucumbers thanks to this light stew
The term “
stew
” indicates the majority of “heavy” and hearty meals.
That is why it is usually braised in autumn and winter.
But these braised cucumbers are really a very digestible pleasure even in warm weather.
Cucumbers, minced meat and tomatoes play the main role.
And when it comes to taste, the trend is slightly sweet and sour.
Reason for this: white wine, vinegar and sugar beet syrup.
Braised cucumbers: how to prepare the vegetables
If you are sure that the cucumbers have not been sprayed, you can leave the peel on.
Otherwise:
peel
!
Then cut open lengthways, hollow out and cut into bite-sized pieces.
And the main actor is already ready for action.
It's pretty quick, like the whole dish, by the way:
15 minutes of preparation
,
30 minutes of cooking
- which actually almost contradicts braising because it often takes a lot of time.
Alternative preparation: This is how you can also use the cucumbers
Braised cucumbers can of course also be prepared whole, analogous to stuffed zucchini.
Or
not whole, but
in halves
, which in turn can be filled with minced meat or vegetarian.
Side dishes with the braised cucumber
Here
rice
or
potatoes come
first.
Rice is likely to be a little less "on the stomach" in summer than potatoes or large quantities of baguettes.
But to be honest: I like these braised cucumbers even without any side dish.
Then it would even be a summer
low-carb stew
