(ANSA) - ROME, AUGUST 09 - From the overall analysis of sustainable development indicators in Italy in 2019, an overall positive picture emerges compared to 10 years earlier, with 60.5% of the measures improving, 19.1% unchanged and 20, 5% worsening. But the intensity of the favorable signals decreases significantly considering the data updated to 2020: compared to the previous year the share of improving measures falls to 42.5% while that of worsening measures rises to 37.0%. This is what emerges from the SDGS Report (Sustainable Development Goals) 2021.
The regional map of sustainable development shows a consolidated advantage of the Northeast over the South and Islands. In particular, in the Autonomous Provinces of Bolzano and Trento more than 40% of the indicators are found in the fifth quintile, the most virtuous one. Valle d'Aosta also has a particularly favorable distribution (40.6%). In the Northwest, the indicators assume a more favorable distribution in Lombardy (25.2% in the fifth quintile) than in Liguria and Piedmont (13.5% and 12.9% respectively). In the central regions, the less favorable position of Lazio emerges, with a higher number of indicators in the second quintile (32.7%) than in Marche, Tuscany and Umbria, characterized by a prevalence of indicators in the third and fourth quintile. In the southern regions, the values of the indicators are among the lowest, with a prevalence in the first quintile (the most disadvantaged) especially in Sicily, Campania and Calabria (respectively 56.8%, 54.1% and 49.3%) while in Abruzzo the distribution appears closer to that of Lazio.
