2021-08-09T13:02:34.497Z

Mobilized against the vaccine obligation imposed on nursing staff, unions denounced the words of the Minister of Health, deemed "above ground" and "contemptuous".

It's a little sentence that doesn't get through.

During a microphone held at the Aix-en-Provence hospital center at the end of last week, the Minister of Solidarity and Health assured that the law imposing vaccination on caregivers "

[would] apply

" .

The obligation will prevent health personnel from being "

those who risk infecting people who have absolutely not asked to fall ill,

" said Olivier Véran.

"

I saw that there were one or two unions which had called a strike

", added the minister: "

comes a time when these people will no longer have the leisure to strike, since, by definition, this vaccine obligation will apply,

”he warned.

Several local representative organizations have effectively called for mobilization against the health pass and the vaccination obligation, as in Bastia or Périgueux.

Nationally, the Health and Social Action Federation of the CGT also called for a strike, as did Sud Santé.

We are not against vaccination, but against the terms of obligation written into the law.

We are against wage sanctions

”, specifies the central Montreuil in a letter to the rue de Grenelle.

Annoyance of the CGT, FO and Sud Santé

Olivier Véran's words did not fall on deaf ears: several organizations expressed their annoyance, seeing in this speech a "

questioning of the right to strike

". In a press release, the general secretary of Force Ouvrière, Yves Veyrier, "

recalls that the right to strike is a constitutional right attached to freedom of association and democracy

". The union "

denounces

" the words of the minister, and demands that they be "

withdrawn without delay

".

Quoted by AFP, the CGT Health judges the Minister of Health "

above ground

": "

these words are in the image of Mr. Véran, contemptuous

", annoys Denis Betand, who sees an "

abysmal gap between the effects announcement and reality

”on the ground. The union prefers to highlight the “

69,000

” hospital bed closures recorded since 2003, and is worried that the hospital system cannot “

take care of the real needs of the population

”, a problem that predates the health crisis.

Sud Santé is also up against the minister's position: "

it is much easier to be authoritarian in front of the cameras than in front of the staff with whom there is no discussion

", commented Jean-Marc Devauchelle. to AFP. The union member of Union Syndicale Solidaires remains fiercely opposed to compulsory vaccination, and supports the “

freedom to choose

” for each individual. The CGT also considers that the health pass and the vaccination obligation, validated by the Constitutional Council, “

infringe the fundamental rights of employees

”.

This law imposes conditions for the implementation of the vaccination obligation that are inappropriate with regard to the objective of protecting the population. They are contrary to the principles of equality and labor rights,

”warns the CGT Santé. The organizations therefore remain mobilized and want to increase the pressure on the government. As of Monday, the CGT is also joining South in its national strike.

The executive, he remains straight in his boots, and invites caregivers to receive their injections as soon as possible. The vaccination campaign among these professionals has accelerated since mid-July: according to Public Health France, 88.6% of liberals received at least one dose and 83.2% were fully vaccinated on August 5. In Ehpad and USLD (long-term care units), nearly 8 out of ten professionals - 78.4% - had received a dose, up 18 percentage points in one month. A pace almost twice as fast as that of June.
