Christina Applegate announced on Twitter that she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, or MS for short.

The "Dead to Me" actress wrote on Twitter that the autoimmune disease had already been diagnosed "a few months ago".

It is a "hard way".

However, the 49-year-old told her 1.4 million Twitter followers that she was "very much supported by people who [she] know and who also suffer from the disease."

She asked to respect her privacy.

Multiple sclerosis is a chronic disease of the central nervous system.

The cause of the autoimmune disease has not yet been clarified.

In another tweet, Applegate wrote, “Like a friend of mine who has MS said, 'We'll wake up and take the actions indicated.'

And that's exactly what I do.

So now I ask for privacy.

While I'm going through this thing. "

Applegate became famous in the 1980s as Kelly Bundy, aka "Dull Cheek", in the series "A Terribly Nice Family."

During her career she was nominated several times for the Emmy Award - among other things for her leading role in the television comedy "Samantha Who?", For which she also received a Golden Globe nomination.

Applegate won the Emmy Award 2003 for her guest role in the series "Friends".

Since 2019 she can be seen in the Netflix series "Dead to Me".

She also received an Emmy nomination for the format.

A third season of the series is planned.

It is not the first stroke of fate in health for the actress: In August 2008, Applegate announced that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer at an early stage.

Just two weeks after her announcement, she declared that she had conquered cancer.

Applegate isn't the only actress diagnosed with MS.

In 2018, actress Selma Blair announced that she had MS.

Since then, she has spoken openly about her fight against the disease.
