Faced with the rise in hospitalizations, the Regional Health Agency has activated the White Plan for hospitals in the region. Occitanie, she,

“The epidemic monitoring indicators in our region expose our hospital system to risks of saturation.

"It is with this alarming press release that the Regional Health Agency of Nouvelle-Aquitaine announced on Tuesday the activation of the White Plan" in all health establishments in the region ".

For several weeks now, the indicators had become worrying in New Aquitaine. According to the latest figures available, the incidence rate there reaches 197 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. The number of new cases has risen sharply in recent days, but has started to decline more recently. "The most affected departments remain those of the coast", specifies the ARS in its press release. The Gironde thus displays an incidence rate of 285 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, the Pyrénées-Atlantiques of 221, the Landes of 220 and Charente-Maritime of 214.

122 people are hospitalized in critical care, which has been rising steadily for several days.

595 people are hospitalized.

"The impact of these high incidence rates having repercussions 2 to 3 weeks later on hospitalizations, their increase should continue to continue", specifies the health agency.

Patient transfers elsewhere in France

The White Plan is activated to cope with a strong upturn in activity in the hospital.

It makes it possible to mobilize healthcare teams, to transfer patients to less affected regions or to deprogram non-urgent operations.

Faced with the rise in hospitalizations throughout France, several other regions of France have already activated the White Plan.

This is the case of Corsica, of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region and more recently of Occitanie.

Three patients in intensive care - a woman from Narbonne, two men from Montpellier - were transferred on Tuesday by plane from Occitanie to Hauts-de-France, Lille and Amiens. These transfers are carried out "with the prior agreement of the family", underlines the press release of the ARS of Hauts-de-France. Previous transfers have been organized in recent days from Martinique, where the situation is critical, to the Metropolis.
