Kit Harington on being a father: »More exhausting than anything I've done with› Thrones ‹«

It's been about seven months since British actor Kit Harington and his wife Rose Leslie became parents to a son, and they keep the little one's name out of the public eye.

But Harington has now spoken to the Sunday Times newspaper about his new role as a father.

The first three months were "light torture" and "a kind of hell," said the 34-year-old.

His back is broken.

He goes to the gym a lot, but having a child is the most physically demanding thing.

He takes off his hats to any single parent, Harington said.

“I don't know how you do it.

Because it's more exhausting than anything I've done on 'Thrones'. "

He wakes his son at six a.m. every morning, said Harington, who currently lives with his family in New York.

Before that, he calls his mother to thank her.

When he looks at his son, he often thinks, "I'll never get all the thanks I deserve for all of the diaper changes and taking care of you."

Harington became an international star through his role in the cult TV series "Game of Thrones", playing Jon Snow for eight years before the series ended in May 2019.

Since then, not everything has gone smoothly for the actor.

"Things that have happened to me since the end of 'Thrones' and that happened during 'Thrones' were quite traumatic and included alcohol."

He suffered from depression and thought of suicide, said Harington.

He's talking about it now because he hopes that maybe he'll be able to help someone with it.

He went to rehab in 2019 and has been sober ever since.

Harington and Rose Leslie met in 2012 while filming Game of Thrones, where she played the wildling woman Ygritte.

The couple married in 2018. Their son was born in London in January of this year.

He has now made his peace with being associated with the fantasy series all his life, said Harington.

It took him a while to be proud of it.

In the meantime, however, he has reached a point where he could possibly watch the series, said Harington.

And then to add: "I'm still a bit away from that."
