On Wednesday night at least 16 vehicles were destroyed or damaged in various locations in Berlin.

The police announced this.

Accordingly, five company cars belonging to a real estate company were set on fire in Wedding, Tempelhof, Steglitz as well as Friedrichsfelde and Alt-Hohenschönhausen.

A van burned down completely in the Alt-Friedrichsfelde street, and five other vehicles were partially badly damaged by the flames.

A company car also burned out almost completely in Gurlittstrasse in Steglitz before the fire brigade could extinguish it.

State security and LKA determine

The police are assuming a planned action because the arsonists struck at the widely spaced locations almost at the same time: All acts accordingly occurred between 1:45 a.m. and around 2 a.m.

According to media reports, it was company vehicles such as vans that belonged to the largest German housing company Vonovia.

The state protection of the criminal police in the State Criminal Police Office (LKA), which is responsible for crimes committed by political extremists, is determined.

Vonovia owns around 354,000 apartments in Germany, including more than 43,000 in Berlin.

The DAX group is currently trying to take over the largest private landlord in Berlin with 114,200 apartments, Deutsche Wohnen.

The last offer from Bochum-based Vonovia was 53 euros per share for the smaller competitor - a total of more than 19 billion euros.

Cars from real estate companies and logistics companies are sometimes set on fire by left-wing extremists in Berlin.

Often, afterwards, there are confessional texts on the websites of the left-wing radical scene.

In numerous other arson attacks on vehicles in the capital, however, the perpetrators have no political motive.

The reasons are often vandalism or personal acts of revenge.
